Fanboys FTW!

Fanboys

So I was home all day yesterday, was bored as hell, and needed something to do, so I found out about this movie called Fanboys, I saw the cover had a picture of a dude with a Darth Vader mask on. So I had to check it out. I'd never heard of it before, because it had apparently not been released in theaters, I'm not sure why, it certainly should have been.

The movie had me rolling on the floor laughing. It was hilarious. What I wanted to get from this movie was to see some Star Wars geeks that were as geeky than me, I love Star Wars, I mean I'm even reading those crappy Star Wars books which are so much like fanfiction you'd find online, they are pretty bad, but it's Star Wars ya know? So these geeks in this movie, went beyond my geekfullness.

The film followed four men, in their 20's, on an adventure to get to Lukas Studios to break in and steal the rough cut of the Phantom Menace film. The characters consisted of the rowdy bum Hutch, who provides much of the laughs of the film, the cool Linus who was dying of Cancer and was going to die in less than 5 months, when the Star Wars film was coming out in 6 months, the care sales-man Eric- the more mature one of the group, the super nerd/geek Windows (who has an online girlfriend, who intends to help them break into Lukas studios, however, he later finds out that she is not who he thought she was), and the Princess Leia of the film, Zoe, played by Kristen Bell.

The film has many unexpected turns, and is a great over-the-top representation of Star Wars fans. Unlike those other parody movies like Epic Movie, and Meet the Spartans, Fanboys actually provides lots of laughs. I thought it might be a film that made fun of The Phantom Menace, which would have been lame and not so creative, but it was more about the hype for the film, and only one line in the film is put in to insinuate that Phantom Menace perhaps wasn't the best film in the universe, as the films in the original trilogy were.

I definitely recommend you all see it! There are even some fights with those ridiculous Trekkies (no offense Star Trek fans but....) in it, that will give you a laugh.

Alright Peace Out!
Rachel
